Description

Voices of the people who have come before me is a 28-page comic that has been listed in the official selection of the International Comic and Animation Festival Platforma BD in Cluj 2026.

The comic is a commentary on how society and support networks perceive, treat, and support women’s chronic illness across a 200 years divide. Through the eyes of two women, the story shows the issues that have persisted across time: social inequality, societal unrest, technological progress and the benefits and costs it brings to human welfare, but also the day-to-day struggles and prejudices of living with a chronic illness. Following parallel threads, each narrative line has its own cast of characters and plot elements. They are differentiated through the color language of each thread (blue for the 1800s, red for present day), and navigate the similarities, transitions and differences between past and present.
